Apologies, the headline was to catch your attention. What I mean is, in 2024, Google is planning to move away from supporting third party (maybe second party too) cookies. How will this impact advertisers?

Let’s consider these statistics:

  • 5.3 billion internet users
  • 61% market share for chrome
  • Google’s implementation will mean 1% chrome users going cookieless in Q1 2024
  • This means 3200 crore going cookieless, to start with 88% chrome users in India

Is this enough reason to:

  • Explore contextual advertising and first party cookies on a war footing?
  • Tie Branding and Corporate Communications budget and PR/ AR budget with performance marketing budget more closely?
